The first year’s festival in 2023 was a pilot project and offered an interesting musical journey from gospel to pop and from rock to folk music. We are one music community started out originally as a one concert project in the spring of 2020 and expanded to a monthly gathering of We are one Fb live concert. Artist Sakke Wallenius began to dream about a real festival and three years later it became a reality.

The story goes that a year ago, Sakke entered a fun competition to win a plot from the municipality Kuhmoinen with the best explanation why she should be given a piece of land. She promised to organize a festival and the first festival took place in July 8, 2023. Sakke invited friends from We are one music community to play and also other artists from Finland like her own band Mascara. Headliner artists Diandra, Pepe Willberg, Frederik, Sani and Petra were also performing at the festival.

Even though it all began as a fun competition, it has been receiving support from the local organizations and the municipality. A local cottage owner Ari Kajander had had also similar thoughts of building a festival to Kuhmoinen and that it could be an ongoing yearly project. People of Kuhmoinen were invited in October, 2022 to the Municipality’s house and they formed an idea group. There was also a questionnaire sent out to the people of Kuhmoinen. One of the wishes were about connecting the new festival with one the traditional venue’s such as Kuhmoinen kuhtuu (”calling” in dialect of Kuhmoinen). Half an year later it all took place in Kuhmoinen surrounded by breathtaking nature with lakes and forest.

The first festival brought joy to the performers as it did bring to the listeners and organizers as well. Kuhmoinen was filled with music and happy faces from morning til late night. Our international artists were at awe to experience Kuhmoinen and some had gone to sauna too.

In 2024 we had the joy to celebrate Summer and music in 90s atmosphere with Aikakone, Waldo’s People, Movetron, Mascara and Ostbass feat. Mira Kontio. At Curch we heard two amazing concerts by Pepe Willberg and also by Arunaja Nalinakshan and Kristiina Brask with the band lead by Ossi Jauhiainen. We also were happy to have Cellophane Flowers and Matti Kohopää perform at the festival. Kuhmoinen certainly gave its best to us!

In 2025 it was a celebration of 90s music, awesome weather and happiest people! We had a true honor to have Pandora, Frederik, CatCat, POJU, Mascara, 2. Maanantai and Marcus Maison performing for us!

I need to let everyone know that there will not be a Kuhmoinen calling: We are one! Festival any more due to financial situation. Instead a new Festival is taking place called ”Kuhmoinen kuhtuu, nostalgian siivin” and the new organizer is well known Finnish musician Janus Hanski.
